Cartier Watch: Breaking Through a Man’s Elegance

“Time is Gold”, as the saying goes for those who keep hold of their time. Some have been very particular and accurate and there are those who just waste for they prefer to be unoccupied at the moment. For those who highly considers that every second counts, watches should be taking part into their lives.

But it’s not just about having a watch that tells you the time, it also entails sophistication in choosing the proper design for your present lifestyle. Let’s take a peek at one of the prides of a French watch designer, the  history of Cartier watches.

The Cartier began as a jewelry industry in 1847 when the workshop of Adolphe Picard was taken over by his assistant Louis-Francois Cartier at 29 rue Montorgueil in Paris. His first touch with watch making and designing started in 1904 when his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont asked him to redesign his watch in a way that it won’t him while flying.

Louis became successful with it and from then started including watches in his chosen field. Through an intensive research in the 1912, Louis was able to come up one of his greatest inventions, the Mysterious Clock. The hands of this clock seem to float into space and are being concentrated at the central crystal disk. During the World War I and onwards, he began the application of abstract design in his watches using onyx and diamonds.

By the year 1977, a vermeil watch was created with a modern dial. It has been the “apple of the eye” by many and very much been fetished by Yves Saint Laurent’s. He always chooses this watch during his photo shoots. 1978 was the year when Louis  redesigned the watch he created for Dumont. He used steel and gold with which he called the Santos de Cartier.

In the middle of the 19th century, he gave credits of the newly evolving round watches by that time by creating the Pasha watch. It is the watch that symbolizes power as it is surrounded with a case of 18-carat gold. It is also water resistant of up to 100 meters and also sand since it is a double-layer protection crown.

For more than a century, Cartier has clearly been successful in being in-line with the very competitive watch industry all over the world. Cartier watches are considered to be expensive and luxurious in quality because of the jewelries in it but every penny is worth the look and functioning.
