Watches: Issues on Durability and Reliability

In our new era of modern science and technology, much has already been discovered and invented to improve the lives of humanity. Almost everything in this world can be achieved with only just a click away especially for those people with money and can buy anything that makes their lives easier.

Discoverers and scientists have made a large contribution in the history of mankind: the transition of “manual” to “automatic”. We can define “automatic” as being involuntary; self-regulated; running or operating in a certain way that is independent of external factors. Allow me to discuss with you how “automaticity” works with watches.

Automatic watches are mechanical devices that winds by itself. It became popular in the US, especially the branded ones, by the year 1993 to 1995. The main key to automatic watches, the Rotor System that is being attached to its winding machinery, was developed by Emile Borer. He was the technician of Rolex Company, the one who first created automatic watches. But the credits should not be given to him since in the year of 1770, Abraham Louis-Perrelet, a watchmaker in Switzerland was the one who first brought out the Rotor System into the world.

Along with the mentioned system is the one which they call the “power reserve”. With power reserve, automatic watches work almost perfectly and at the same time, accurate and reliable. It enables the motions of the watch to keep running from 36 to 72 hours. Your automatic watch will keep on working for longer hours depending on the size of the power reserve. The bigger, the better. It will keep on going without winding it or adjusting it manually. But keep in mind that it is still best to wind your watch manually once or twice a week for a better performance.

Within the past decade, it flourished in America making a tremendous mark in the history or human technology. Automatic watches are clearly sweeping the edge over manually-operated watches. Regardless of what style, design or color, automatic watches are best suitable for those people who wear them everyday and want to keep guard of every minute. Whether you are a sporty chic, an adventurer, a gentleman or a hippie, these kinds of watches will certainly fit your lifestyle. To conclude, they are more appealing to mankind since they are more affordable in the sense that you do not have to buy batteries from time to time to keep your watch working.
